The Iguazú National Park, of 67000 hectares is located in the province of Misiones. It was created in 1934 and it was declared National heritage in 1984.

alfway January 1542, while traveling from Atlantic ocean to Asuncion del Paraguay, Alvar Nuñez Cabeza de Vaca, came across the magnificent water falls of the Iguazú river, which were named “Saltos de Santa María”, as years went on this name was replaced with the native name “Iguazú”, which means “big water” in the Guarani language.

here is a subtropical climate. Warm Summer. Mild Winter. Pleaseant temperature 23º C. daytime.
Rain 2000 mm. yearly.

 

   Flora and fauna
  
Great diversity of flora estimated quantity 2000. Trees, lianas, orchids, palms trees, etc. are part of a whole.
   Within the region you can find over 450 bird species, 80 mammal species, over 2000 butterflies species between diurnal and nocturnal, fishes, batrachiams, reptiles spread out through the jungle. The bird´s singing, the monkey´s whistle, the track in the mud, all this indicates the presence of big mammals such as “jaguar”, “cougar”, “tapir”, “stag”, etc.

he visitor´s center “Yvira retá” offers through photographs and panels to discover and experience the heritage and culture of the region. You´ll have the possibility to go on a trip to the different Jungle´s stratum, also you´ll be inmersed into the man´s world and the nature within the jungle, from its origins, the guaranies, the jesuits, and the contemporary man. We can ensure every guest will be entertain and enrich, with legends and local folklore.

   The ride starts at the Devil’s Throat with special boats projected for rivers with such characteristics. It is a silent, calm and totally illustrative ride...

   Walks at the waterfalls area
  
Upper circuit. You´ll have the possibility to acces to different panoramic points and appreciate the Upper Iguazú river. (750 mts catwalk).
   Lower circuit. A total innmersion in the rain forest. You´ll have the possibility to observe the cascades nearer the jungle. (1100 mts catwalk).
   San Martin Island (100. mts trail).
   The Devil´s throat (2200 mts catwalk).
   Macuco pedestrian trail (6 km selfguided jungle trail).

   All these trips are alternated with the ecologic train´s transfer, with the movitracks through the jungle, and paddled rafts to navigate the Iguazú river canyon. This way, visitors can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the waterfalls, also, explore and discover the Iguazú National Park.
   Aproximated time: (between 7 or 9 hours).
